Where are you in missions? “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” Isaiah 6:8 Many people focus on when Jesus said, “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” Mt 9:38 “Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.” Lk 10:2 And, although it is true, we do need to pray for the Lord of the Harvest to send forth laborers, as Christ said to do, we forget a very key verse about missions. “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” Isaiah 6:8 I really like this song, "Keep On Calling, Lord" words and music written by Deborah Wells, missionary to Papua New Guinea.

Q. How can He send forth laborers, if no one volunteers to go? A. He can’t. He will never force us to go anywhere, or do anything. My Dad has preached a message called, “Where Am I In Missions?”  He created an acronym for each of the letter in missions. M- Multitude Matt 14:14 - And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick. Matt 9:36-38 - But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. John 4:35 - Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. 1) Fields are white unto harvest, but the labourers are few, - White Wheat - Letter from Kansas State University - states the wheat that is white is past the harvesting time, damaged buy  too much sun and rain, but edible, if harvested quickly. 2) Pray that God calls the workers, he's not asking that our emotions run before his call. I – Intercessor Ezek 22:30 - And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none. Isa 59:16 - And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him. We read in Genesis  about Abraham, the intercessory man before God, who talked God from 50 righteous to only 10. Gen 18:23-33. Man to Man intercessor - Gen 37:21,26, Phm 10 Moses for Israel - Ex 32.32; Numb 14:17, Deut 9:26 Samuel 1 Sa 7:5 David for Israel 1 Chron 21:17 Eph 1:16   S – Saviour 1 Timothy 1:15 Matthew 28:18-20 Going with the message of the Saviour 1 Tim 4:10- For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. Titus 2:10-15 - Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee. 2 Pet 3:2 - That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:     S - Simplicity 2 Cor 11:3 - But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety,  so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. I - Instrument Rom 6:13 - Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. Rom 9:22-23 - What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, Rom 9:21 - Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? 1Thes 4:4 - That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; 2 Tim 2:21 - If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. O - Ordained Acts 13:1-3 Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. 1 Tim 2:7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity. Heb 9:6 Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. Exod 28:41 And thou shalt put them upon Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him; and shalt anoint them, and consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister unto me in the priest's office. N - Night Approaches John 9:4 - I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. There are four watches in the night, we're in the last, which means there isn't much time left. Redeem the time "You have undoubtedly heard the phrase 'saving time,' ... But in a sense this phrase is misleading. Certain resources can be saved and even stockpiled - time cannot. Time is something which inevitably does and inevitably will proceed. Rather than stockpile it, hoarding it, or keeping it locked in a safe, all we can do is manage how well we actually spent it." (Quoted from book, "Smart Moves", by Sam Deep and Lyle Sussman, quoted in "IEEE Potentials", Feb 1992, page 6.) If you had a bank that credited your account each morning with $86,400, that carried over no balance from day to day, allowed you to keep no cash in your account, and every evening cancelled whatever part of the amount you had failed to use during the day, what would you do? Draw out every cent, of course. Well, you have such a bank, and its name is, "Time". Every morning it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it rules off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balances. It allows no overdrafts. Each day it opens a new account with you. Each night it burns the records of the day. If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours. There is no going back. There is no drawing against the "tomorrow". You must live in the present - on today's deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness and success!! “Only one life ‘twill soon be past Only what's done for Christ will last!!"   S - Sacrifice   1) Romans 12:1-12 Their Lives   "An old Roman coin was found on which was a picture of an ox, one of the servants of man. The ox was facing two things, "an altar and a plough". The inscription read, "Ready for either."   To those servants of God who made the supreme sacrifice upon the "altar of martyrdom" in Japanese prisoner of war camps or in the fetid jungles of Borneo...   And to those who put their hand to the "plough of service" for the Master, never looking back, surviving the imprisonment, deprivation, separation from and loss of loved ones, hunger, beatings, and rape, and bearing in their bodies the cost of following the Master wherever He led, until He called them home." (Dedication of the book, "Evidence Not Seen", by Darlene Deibler Rose) By Their  Blood - 4 Times thicker then Foxes Book, but talk of missionaries who lost their lives in service for the Lord.   "In October, 1931, widower Jack Vinson, a beloved Southern Presbyterian missionary, was captured by bandits while visiting rural churches in Kiangsu Province (China). A government force, loyal to Chiang, pursued the kidnappers and surrounded them in a small town. The bandits offered the missionary freedom if he would persuade the force to withdraw. Vinson agreed only if they would release other captives. The bandits refused and tried to shoot their way out. In the melee many bandits were killed, and the survivors fled with Vinson. However, the missionary could not run because of recent surgery. One bandit shot him, then another ran up and cut off his head.   The daughter of a Chinese pastor was among those rescued by the government troops. She recalled having heard a bandit tell him, 'I'm going to kill you. Aren't you afraid?' She said Vinson had replied simply, 'Kill me, if you wish, I will go straight to God.' John Birch - China Missionary Killed by Communist. - Out of J. Frank Norris's School in Texas. "One morning after Russell had told the final episode of his story, Dr. Jaffray walked into the bedroom and saw me tearing the dead tissue off Russell's feet, the blood and pus running. A wave of nausea passed over his face; then he turned and without a word abruptly left the room. He closeted himself in his bedroom, and when I called him at noon, he said he would not be out for lunch. About four that afternoon, he walked out and laid a manuscript on the table in front of me. I picked it up and read the editorial for our field magazine, "The Pioneer "This morning I looked at the bleeding feet of a missionary, saw his wife tending them, saw the blood and puss running from them and thought to myself, "What a nauseating sight that is!" But, as I walked from the room, the Lord kept saying to me, "Oh, but to Me they are beautiful feet!" "Then I remembered - "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings" - good tidings to men and women like those in New Guinea who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death. Someday it will all be over. Someday the tired, bleeding feet of the missionaries will for the last time cross those broken-bottle limestone mountains. Someday for the last time they will go down into one of those newly discovered  valleys. Someday for the last time they will speak the message of redemption through Jesus Christ our Lord. Someday the last one will turn to Jesus. Then the clouds will part asunder and our Savior will be there." ("Evidence Not Seen", Darlene Deibler Rose, pages 16-17)   ***   2. Sacrifice of People to send these Missionaries. Acts 13:1-3 Phil 4:13-19 Heb 13:16   Col. Jack Henry told my Dad many years ago, "You pray that God will send you to the mission field, when God doesn't let you go, then you ask how much you can give. Too many people are only interested in how much they can give, not caring if they can go.   Missionaries aren't sent by God Bless You, but by the sacrifices of God's people, who have prayed for the harvest, surrendered for the harvest and when the Lord says no, asked the Lord how much they can sacrifice for missions.   DEPUTATION STATISTICS   Average           1960 - 69              1970 - 79            1980-89             1990-98               Deputation Time      12 Months        17 Months               30 Months          24 Months Meetings                       46                  112                         320                         265 Miles                            31,000              54,500                75,000                   65,000 Support                  $556.00                 $1,318.00           2,000/month      3,000/month Cost                                       $30,000.00   (1960- 1979, as Quoted in Baptist Missions at the Pensacola Bible Institute, Pensacola, FL., on 28 FEB. 84, 1980- 1998, as quoted from a letter from Jonathan Richmond, Dir. of Bible Baptist Missions, FEB 98)   A missionary wrote my Dad: Dear Randy, The only available statistics that I have concerning deputation would be for 1994.   1.  Average deputation time -- 2 years, 5 months 2.  Average meetings -- 220 meetings 3.  Average mileage -- 80,000 - 100,000 miles     M- Multitude I - Intercessor S - Saviour S - Simplicity I - Instrument O - Ordained N - Night Approaches S - Sacrifice     There is an ‘I’ in all of these points today and my prayer today, is that you would truly be in missions.   "Lift up your eyes and look,   Lift up your hearts and pray,   Lift up your hands and give,   Lift up your feet and go,   Lift up your voice and preach."

Exodus 34
Vrs. 10
God wanted to be in the midst of Isreal, and to be in control, so He could do wonders in their lives.
If we obey His commandments, He will get rid of the sin in our lives, and do great wonders in our lives. He wants to be in the midst of us, too.

1.Who is number one in your life? verses 12-17
We can't let the world run our lives, or their gods become our gods. God must be number one in our lives.
God is a very jealous God. When we allow idols in our lives, God calls it “whoredom” and considers it a very serious sin. We must put Him first in everything we do.

2. Sanctify - verses 18-20
We must seperate and sanctify ourselves fully unto God. This ties in with God being the number one “person” in our lives.
We should be letting Him be in full control of everything. We can’t allow the world to determine what we do, or how we dress. Our hair styles, clothing styles, and all that we do, and all that we eat, shouldn’t it be pleasing to God? (Isn’t it His temple that we are putting the food in? His temple that we are clothing? His temple that we are taking places? Our hair part of His temple?)
 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.”

Ask God what He wants you to wear, and look like. Do a Bible study. Can it really hurt you to find out?

3. Set apart vrs. 21
Set apart a day for the Lord, and rest in Him.
There is a reason that God wanted the children of Israel to rest on the Sabbath day. It was never meant to be a “Holier than thou” day, like the Pharisees made it. God knew that you can’t go for seven days a week. You will burn out. I had a friend tell me, one time, that “God doesn’t expect us to be superwomen!” She is very right. We think, in this day and age, that we are supposed to push ourselves to the umpteenth degree. God said for them to work six days a week, and then rest one day. It gives our bodies a chance to rest up from the crazy week, before you go back into the crazy week ahead of you.
This doesn’t mean to be lazy on the day of rest, but allow your body a chance to rest. Try to get away for a little bit of time, and spend some alone time with the Lord. You should be spending special time with the Lord each day, but spend a bit of extra special time with Him on the day of rest. How else can you grow, if you don’t come away and spend time with Him?
Jn 15:4 “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.”
God wants us to spend time with Him. He implores us to spend time with Him.
Ezekiel 3:22 “And the hand of the Lord was there upon me; and He said unto me, Arise, go forth unto the plain, and I will there talk with thee.”

Ex 34:29-35 When we spend time with the Lord, People will see. Ever notice how you can tell when someone has spent time with God? We knew a Pastor, he is now always with God, as he is in Heaven, but he would go off to a cabin for a week, and spend time just him and God. When he would come back, he was so hot for God. There was a change in him, every time he went off just him and God. There is a difference.

When we do these things, He can work wonders in our lives.

Be Ye Holy

Over and over again, God told the children of Isreal that He wanted them to, "Be ye holy for I am Holy." (Exodus 19:6; Leviticus 11:44-45; Leviticus 19:2)

Over and over again in the New Testiment, we are told to be Holy. (Ephesians 1:4; Ephesians 5:27; Colossians 1:22; Heb 12:10, 14; I Peter 1:15; I Peter 2:9;)  The older women are to teach the younger women to be holy. I Timothy 3. I believe that Holiness is something that is lacking in most churches. And it is very important. When God says, "Be ye holy for I am holy" He is saying that, since He is holy, and we are representatives of Him, to this lost and dying world, we must be holy. Christian means, "Christ like." The disciples were called, "Christians" because they were "Minature Christ's" to the people who were trying to get rid of Christ. Now, Christian is somehow the term everyone wants to be called. We have lost the meaning of Christ living in and through us, and are no longer mini Christs.
This is only a few ideas, but maybe it will encourage you to do your own study on Holiness, and figure out how God wants you to be.
I believe that in order to be holy, we must do a few things.
1.) H - Humble
"Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up." James 4:10
I've heard it said many times, "Humble yourself before God has to humble you." When God has to humble us, it is a very painful thing. To humble yourself, willingly bow yourself before the Lord, not before other people. Humility is not real, if it is done with the intent of others seeing it.
It does no good to decide to be holy, and then boast about it. That is how the Pharasees were.
2.) O - Obedient
We should obey the commandments of the Lord. We also should be obeying the people who are over us. We all have someone over us. If we are single, it should be our Dad, or our Pastor. If married, your husband.
There is the President/king, whether we like it or not, unless he/she is telling us to do something strictly against God's Word, we are to obey them. They are put there by God. He is in control.
3.) L - Listen
Listen for God's will, or the opportunities He provides for us to minister to others. Listen for the opportunities to witness to people. Listen for the chances to give to people.
4.) Y - Yearn
Yearn for the Lord's return, it is imminent. It is our job to be watching for the Lord to come. Many will ask, and are asking, where the promises of His return are. We should know where the promises are. We should know the signs of the times. We should know that it will happen. We should be watching for Him to come.
Yearn for souls to be saved. We are the ones who are supposed to be praying for them, and witnessing to them. We should be doing everything we can to reach them before it is too late.

Proverbs 31:10-31
This is not completely original. I had a Sunday School teacher speak on that passage recently. She mentioned about seven things that working married, or unmarried ladies, can learn from this passage, and incorporate at their jobs. Really, these can be incorporated in any part of our lives.

1. Honesty - Proverbs 31:11-12
We have to be honest, and trustworthy, so that people know that what we say we will do, we do.
2. Self Motivated - Proverbs 31:13-18
We shouldn't be waiting until they tell us what to do, and then force us to do it. Most of us know at least somewhat of what is expected, and know what we may be able to do above and beyong what is expected of us. Isn't it a Christian's place to be doing so?
3. Industrious - Proverbs 31:19, 21-22, 24-25, 25
She wasn't idle. When she started a task, she worked at it until it was completed.
4. Dressed nicely - Proverbs 31:22
We don't have to be competing to be the most sloppy person at our place of employment, whether it be at home, or out in the workforce.
5. Helpful - Proverbs 31:27, 29
We should be doing everything we can to help others. It's okay if it's "Not our job" we can still be helpful.
6. Not offensive - Proverbs 31:26
We need to be watching what we say.
7. Fruitful - Proverbs 31:23, 28-29
When we allow Christ to shine through our lives, everything we do will prosper. It will give honor to other people, and it will benefit us, too.

So, how do we get these characteristics?

1. Honesty - Remember, God is always watching you. No matter what you are doing, God sees it. If you are cheating on your job, He knows. God sees it. "Thou God seest me." Gen 16:13

2. Self Motivation - Encourage yourself so that you can be a blessing to others.

3. Industrious (Hard working) - Find good fellowship, and get good tools. Proverbs 27:17 "Iron sharpeneth iron, so a friends sharpeneth the countenance of his friend."

4. Dressed Nicely - Again, Proverbs 27:17, Surround yourself by people who are modest, but wear nice clothes, then you will be able to know how to dress, yourself.

5. Helpful - Don't be selfish. With this I do want to add that one of the most helpful things, as Christians, that we can do for each other, is pray. Thus, I would like to begin having a section for prayer requests. Please see the article, "Pray Without Ceasing" included further down.

6. Gracious - The only thing that will help us to be more gracious with peole, and help us to watch our tongue, is to spend time with the Lord. When we have His mind, (Philippians 2:5) we will then know more what we should say, and when.

7. Fruitful - if you do the things listed above, you will be fruitful.

"Pray Without Ceasing" I Peter 5:7
Pray without ceasing has stuck in my head a lot lately. I want this to be a newsletter that is an encouragement to people. I also want to become a prayer warior myself, and want to encourage other to do so. We are in the last days, and things are going to "wax worse and worse" as the Bible prophisied. I know there are some who still are doing this, but many have gotten away from praying for others. Paul said, "Always, in every prayer of mine for you all" Phil 1:4. Paul prayed for several churches, and several Christians, on a very frequent basis. Remember this song?

Sweet Hour of Prayer Words: William Walford, Music: William Bradbury, Public Domain
Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief,
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare,
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

It seems, in most churches, that we now have 5 minutes of prayer, and that is all we can do. I'll be the first to admit, praying for an hour is not easy. But we will never see the power that D. L. Moody, Robert Sheffey, and many others saw, without a special time of prayer each day. If you have any prayer requests that you would like posted next month, please e-mail them to [email protected]. Please ensure that you okay any prayer requests for someone else, by that someone else, first. In other words, if you send in a request for your Dad, who has a heart problem, and he doesn't want that passed around, please ask him first.
Unsaved is a different story. Unsaved people don't want to have someone pray they get saved.

God does answer prayer, and we can't ever give up on praying for people.
There is a song, "It Pays to Pray" that is a really good song. Here is the chorus.
It Pays to Pray
Words and Music by Rodney Griffin, ©2007 Songs of Greater Vision, BMI. - used by permission
It pays to pray it pays to call upon His name
It pays to pray to see a miracle displayed
You'll forget the word impossible when you seek the Saviour's face
You'll know He will make a way
It pays to pray

Thank you.
May God Bless you.

God’s Roses

Every one of us goes through trials in our lives. So many times it is so easy to question and say, “God, how can you do this to me?” But we forget the promise that God gives us, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

Nothing we go through is meant to hurt us, and, in fact, will help us to grow closer to the Lord, if we will let it.

Also, God will never put us through something that we cannot handle in His strength. “My grace is sufficient for thee.” II Cor 12:9 We try to do it in our own strength, over, and over, and over again. That is why we seem to always have trouble carrying our burdens. We were never meant to do it in our strength. “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Phil 4:13

THE ROSE

It is only a tiny rosebud,

A flower of God's design,

But I cannot unfold the petals

With these clumsy hands of mine.

-

The secret of unfolding flowers

Is not known to such as I,

The flower God opens so sweetly,

In my hands would fade and die.

-

I cannot unfold a rosebud,

This flower of God's design,

Then how can I have wisdom

To unfold this life of mine?

-

So I'll trust Him for His leading

Each moment of every day

And I'll look to Him for His guidance

Each step of the pilgrim way.

-

For the pathway that lies before me

My heavenly Father knows

I'll trust Him to unfold the moments

Just as He unfolds the rose.

Just like the rose in our little poem reminds us, God is longing to be in control of every area of our lives, and, when we let Him, He will make our lives into the most beautiful thing beyond our imagination. We might not see it on earth. We may never see why He is molding our lives the way He is, while we are on earth, but when we are seeing our lives from His angle, it will be beyond our wildest dreams. He is the master of design, and a rose only lasts for a few months, but our lives last, usually, more than a year. In that time, God wants to mold us, and shape us into His design. We are His roses. This is why I chose to name the newsletters, “God’s Roses” I was debating, but when I saw this poem, I just felt confirmed that this was to be the name.

Sometimes the circumstances that we go through can be very hard to handle, and I wrote this poem several years ago, and found it recently, and it has reminded me of some things.

Life's trials

The Lord brings us through many trials and such

It's always  because He loves us so much.

Through every test, and tribulation we face

He supplies all our need through His matchless grace.

At times we may question, "Lord, why is it thus?"

Yet He always answers, "In me you must trust."

"I don't see how, Lord, I can ever get through."

Is what we might say, and it just seems so true.

Than somehow, it seems, a miracle may come,

And we know it is not through one thing we have done.

Yet only then, do all those around us see

The one shining through us, He who lives in me.

Lord, may my life be one that may show your grace,

Through every storm, and trial that I may face.

That those around, may see the promise true

His grace is sufficient, I will make it through.

Please remember that no matter what you are going through, God has a reason, and He will sustain you.

May the Lord bless you as you live for Him.
